چکیده

The viscosity and enthalpy relaxation in the Ge15Te85 eutectic liquid are investigated using a combination of parallel plate rheometry conventional modulated differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). results these measurements provide evidence for similar temperature dependence shear timescales this liquid. However, is found to be more than an order magnitude slower process. supercooled state above its melting point can described single fragility index, except over narrow region immediate vicinity where abruptly increases, signifying liquid-liquid transition. This anomalous jump coincides with onset exothermic event observed DSC cooling curve. Together, consistent transition that involves incipient immiscibility bypassed via rapid supercooling.

The Liquid Density of Complex Liquid Mixtures

A second virial coefficient correlation suitable for two different temperatures ranges, (T*)-2£180 and (T*)-2>180, where T* is RT/DHvap is presented. The equation of state can be calculated for different, complicated non-polar, and slightly polar liquid mixtures at any temperature over the range from Ttp to T<su...

The putative liquid-liquid transition is a liquid-solid transition in atomistic models of water.

We use numerical simulation to examine the possibility of a reversible liquid-liquid transition in supercooled water and related systems. In particular, for two atomistic models of water, we have computed free energies as functions of multiple order parameters, where one is density and another distinguishes crystal from liquid. For a range of temperatures and pressures, separate free energy bas...

The putative liquid-liquid transition is a liquid-solid transition in atomistic models of water. II.

This paper extends our earlier studies of free energy functions of density and crystalline order parameters for models of supercooled water, which allows us to examine the possibility of two distinct metastable liquid phases [D. T. Limmer and D. Chandler, J. Chem. Phys. 135, 134503 (2011) and preprint arXiv:1107.0337 (2011)]. Low-temperature reversible free energy surfaces of several different ...

Background and Objectives: Food quality and safety control is an important part of the public health assessment of food adulteration has been a key issue in recent years. Cream is a product containing milk fat and is one of the most expensive and widely consumed edible fats, which is often targeted for cheating by mixing various vegetable oils with natural milk fats. A way to detect this type o...

Liquid-liquid phase transition in water

Water shows anomalies different from most of other materials. Different sceniaros have been proposed to explain water anomalies, among which the liquid-liquid phase transition (LLPT) is the most discussed one. It attributes water anomalies to the existence of a hypothesized liquid-liquid critical point (LLCP) buried deep in the supercooled region. We briefly review the recent experimental and t...
